IWR6843ISK-ODS: beamforming using IWR6843ISK-ODS and capture offline data with DCA1000

Part Number: IWR6843ISK-ODS

I was trying to do beamforming/beamsteering using IWR6843ISK-ODS and capture offline data with DCA1000.

Is it necessary to use carrier board (ICBOOST) to do so?

In `Long-range people detection user guide` it said The beamforming/beamsteering feature described earlier requires the ICBOOST board to facilitate higher power draw required,
and in training 'Raw Data Capture for XWR6843 Device Using DCA1000 Board and mmWave Studio' it said (For 3TX and other high power use case that exceeding the limit of the USB power input, TP12 & TP13 can be used to power the antenna board)

Are these two methods equivalent? If so, how do I power the board through TP12& TP13?

best regards.

  • Hi,

These methods should result in equivalent performance if you are able to source a steady enough 5V supply onto the test points. There are rings at the bottom of the ISK board that are TP12 and TP13 that you can connect a power supply to.

    Best,

    Nate
