Suitable mmWave device

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: IWR1443

Hi Team,

Our customer would like to confirm if our mmWave devices are suitable for this application. According to our customer,

I was wondering if you could help me pick a TI mmWave sensor that would work for my application, I am having trouble deciding which one would work for me. Also, I want to know if the mmWave sensor could work for my application.

For my application, I am trying to measure the bed surface profile in a reactor silo, which is similar to a grain silo. This measurement will occur while the silo is being filled with a machine called a Dense Loading Machine (I can send supporting images if needed). Is machine is similar to a fertilizer spreader commonly used on lawns. This machine will evenly fill the tank and I just want to monitoring the flatness material in the silo. Would this sensor be able to make a rough surface profile of the material from at least 20 meters? I have seen similar done with several examples of the sensor being used for autonomous vehicles.

This is what we are trying to do. We plan on mounting a sensor axially to the machine. You can disregard the radial sensor in the diagram. The rotor spins and deposits material in the tank below.

Regards,

Danilo
