PGA460-Q1: Analog Signals

Part Number: PGA460-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP-EXP430F5529LP, PGA460, TUSS4470

Hi,

Good Day. Customer is working on Ultrasonic sensor and using your products for that PGA460-Q1 EVM and launch pad Part no: MSP-EXP430F5529LP. They need analog signal for their research and they have tried all the methods they could try.

After doing research on E2E, I found an answer. Please see below for your reference. Please help to check if this is right.

"You can output the signal that is fed to the internal ADC of the PGA460. This signal is output on the TEST pin of the PGA460 by selecting the “Analog Front End output” option for the TEST_MUX bits in the TEST_MUX register."

E2E Forum Post (Reference):
e2e.ti.com/.../pga460-q1-how-pga460-output-analog-waveforms

If this is right, Is it possible to tell us how to select the Analog front end option in the Text mux? Please advise. Thank you very much.

Best Regards,

Ray Vincent

  • Hello Ray,

Thanks for posting to the Sensing forum! Yes this is correct, the customer would just have to write register 0x4B bits 7-5 with 0b001. Please see register map below:

If they are attempting to do this on the GUI they can go under the "device settings" dropdown menu, under "Test Mode" the can select the multiplexer output on the TEST pin option. They also need to select the data path mux select to match the part of the analog signal that they are interested in.

If they strictly need just the analog waveforms for their return echoes  we also have the TUSS4470 device which provides just analog output data, the device is slightly different than PGA460 since it does not provide all the internal digital signal processing. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

    Best,

    Isaac
