AWR1843BOOST: mmWave Studio Beam Visualization

Part Number: AWR1843BOOST

When we were trying to use mmwave studio, we took readings by selecting several combinations of Rx & Tx antennas. While trying with individual combinations (like Tx0, Rx2) and reducing the value of CFAR to zero in the post-processed output section, we could observe that detection points are only available in specific regions. What does this mean? Does this mean that the receiver only picks the signal only from this specified region? Does this mean that the receiver FOV is reduced?

  • No, the receiver FOV is not reduced.

There are probably some issues with post processing if CFAR is zero. You should use a higher CFAR to get a correct display.

If with higher CFAR the display is still the same, than there could be issues with the captured raw data.

The FOV should not be affected

    thank you

  • Every combination gave detection points only in these regions. In order to identify the range where the RADAR detection points could be observed, we reduced the value of CFAR to a low value of zero. For example, when using Tx0, Rx0 we did not get any detection points and while using Tx0, Rx1, Rx3 we got detection points only from the right side of the RADAR. These are the observations we found while we tried different combinations of transmitters and receivers. If the receiver does not pick signal only from this region, I would like to know what these images mean?

  • Hi,

Please note that when using a single Rx it is not possible to determine angle information. The only information available with single Rx is the range information.

I think that post processing scripts support detection ONLY for Txn, Rx0, 1,2,3

The other displays are not correct.

If you need to support other configuration you would need to write your own matlab script

    thank you
