TMAG5273EVM: TMAG5273EVM GUI - doesn't work with TMAG5273EVM

Hi Andrew,

Can you follow the steps in Section 4.1.2.1 in the TMAG5273 User's Guide?  You may need to reinstall the firmware on the SCB, which can be downloaded from the below link:

Update.

I downloaded the sbac295 archive. Put the board in the DFU mode. With the board in the DFU mode, unzipped the sbac295 archive and ran the batch file as an administrator. Nowhere in the instructions it says where the files should be saved - this proved to be a problem as one can see see below. Looking at the the batch file, it doesn't make sense because it expects the scripts be in a in a specific folder (C:/WINDOWS/system32). I ended up manually running two commands from the batch file and finally managed to reprogram the control board.

Now the GUI program runs and it connects with the sensor. However I still cannot get any data out of the sensor.  Register writing doesn't work.

By the way, can you also tell me if you ordered a fresh TI-SCB for this or are you reusing a TI-SCB that was previously used for another project?

Hi Andrew,

Thank you for the screenshot.  It is odd that you are connecting but not able to see the ID registers with valid values.  Could you try connecting the A2 portion of the TMAG5273EVM or the A1 portion of the other board you have?  After doing this, do you still see the ID registers not being populated?

When I ran the .bat file, I received the below screen:

Did you observe a similar screen the last time you ran the .bat file or was the log you showed two days ago what you saw the last time you ran the .bat file?

Regarding the batch file, I didn't observe the similar result as you. My result was posted earlier. Unrelated to the batch file problem, I just found that one of the A1 sensor boards is capable of establishing a connection with a control board but fails to update the registers. I tried another A1 and it works. Two  A2 sensor boards also seem to work. 

I have two TMAG5273EVM kits and two control boards. Both control boards required re-installation of the f/w. Each kit includes two sensors marked A1 and A2. One of the A1 sensors never showed any signs of life even though the GUI s/w can connect with it. Could a sensor be damaged by a control boards with a wrong f/w?

Hi Andrew,

It could be possible that the boards could have been damaged if the EVM header pins weren't properly aligned to the SCB header pins (even if temporarily). I would guess that this would more likely be the culprit behind the device being damaged.
