AWR2243: TX Phase shifter calibration offset

Part Number: AWR2243

I followed the procedure for calibrating the TX phase shifter, by generating the corresponding captures and the look up table (LUT). I then generated two datastes for verification, one with calibration and one without. Using the matlab code cascade_TXBF_Verification.m, I obtained the attached curves. The issue observed is that the peak of the curve is offset by 6 degrees. Can you point out to what can be the issues?

On another note, I generated two LUTs on two consecutive days (with two different calibration datasets), and the two LUTs were different. Does the LUT change? do we need to calibrate it often? or should a single calibration suffice for Tx phase shifters? Thans much

  • Hi,

as per the https://www.ti.com/lit/an/spracv2/spracv2.pdf document typically 2 procedures are recommended. Once at the RF_INIT the second at the factory using corner reflector.

If you are not using the RF_INIT inbuilt cal procedure then you need to ensure the controlled environment along with corner reflector to carry out the cals, to ensure there is minimal variation with in the cal cycles.

Secondly, if the cal is not done in controlled there may be errors which may come up in the final post processing of raw data from beam forming mode.
