Part Number: AWR2944EVM

Sebum is attached to the new sensor I purchased.

We want to measure accurate electromagnetic wave characteristics using sensors.

However, the sebum adhering to the antenna becomes a dielectric, which adversely affects the characteristics of radio waves.

Therefore, accurate measurement cannot be performed, so please replace it with a new and clean antenna.

Hi,

As per the EVM manufacturer oxidation does not affect the electromangnetic performance of the board.

Have you made actual measurements with the board?

It is up to you to prove that the electromangnetic perfomance are unaffected.
This is not problem with EVM behavior. The problem as a semiconductor company is that it offers products with fingerprints.

Hello Ryuta Kawai,

This behavior is due to immersion silver pcb surface finish. Known to have this behavior when exposed to air.

Cannot pass through in-house inspection.Fingerprint are not attached by us, so ask for replacement.

The electromagnnetic perfomance inspection is then done.

Hello Ryuta,

Are you referring to the marks on the EVM? The PCBs are cleaned after assembly to remove any excess flux around the components. This is a standard procedure. The "darkening" of these marks is due to the oxidation of the silver finish used on the PCB, as pointed out by Chethan above, which is proved to not cause any RF performance degradation.

The problem is not about RF performance. The problem is not pass in-house quality inspection.

Hello Vivek、

We are currently evaluating the AWR2944EVM, but replacement is still essential.

When observing the antenna with a laser microscope, linear scratches were confirmed in addition to fingerprints.
Red area for fingerprints, blue area for linear scratches.
Linear scratches are thought to be due to factors other than fingerprints.

"IMPORTANT NOTICE AND DISCLAIMER" also has no explanation about quality assurance.
Please specify the part you are pointing out

Please replace it for these reasons.

Hello Ryuta,

I had a discussion with our manufacturer. The microscopic scratches are most likely caused during the cleaning process followed post the component soldering. This is done to remove any excess flux from the PCB.

Request you to continue your evaluation using the EVM you have and let us know if you face any issues in the evaluation.
