IWR6843: People counting with Advanced frame configuration

Dear friends,

We would like to implement advance frame configuration on people counting, in order to increase both accuracy and distance. Unfortunately, as long as we know, the people counting application still do not allowed it, nor found the same topic in this forum.

So my questions are:

1. Is there any plan to incorporate advance frame into people counting?

2. Is there any ways to implement advance frame into people counting, for ex, by changing mss_main.c or others in the CCS?

3. Is radar cube is updated every subframe, or only every frame?

Hello,

The device will still support subframes, but there is no plan to add support for this into the 3D people counting lab. What features specifically do you want to implement? Beamsteering with phase offsets?

How the radar cube is updated is somewhat dependent on how the feature is enabled, but it should be updated every subframe.

Nope, what I need is two range of radar, one of 6 m, the other for 15 m. The one for 6 m ( i follow the demo) has chirp bandwidth (rampendtime*freqslope) of 3.2 Ghz, while the one for 14m has bandwidth of 1.6 Ghz, but has bigger variation (larger spread) of point cloud compares to 6 m ones, leads to more Ghost and performance degradation, compares to 6m. So I want to make 1 subframe that works from 0-6m with bandwidth of 3.5 Ghz, and another subframe from 6-15m (with bandwidth of 1.6 Ghz?), hopefully get the best of both world. Is it possible to implement? Thank you very much.

Hello,

This is possible but not currently implemented in the 3D people counting applications. I would suggest testing with the Long Range People Detection lab. This is very similar but supports subframe processing. Currently it is used for TX beamsteering to long range support, but the chirp profile should be easily modified to support 2 different chirp profiles.

Ok, I have implemented advanced configuration Long range people detection. Just maybe can use more advanced AoA algorithm.
