AWR1843: no plots shown in mmWave Demo Visualizer

Part Number: AWR1843
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UNIFLASH, , , TMS320C6748

Hi teams,
    Greetings for the Day!

Since the suggestion in thread 1092373 can not resolved the issue, the customer still request to further help for his issue .
He checked the COM port available and followed the all suggestions in thread 1092373,but they do not work now.
There are recent response from the customer. Could you kindly suggest anything others to solve the issue .

" I have tested the device with other USB cable. It is still not giving the output. So there is nothing wrong with the cable.
So I think it is the mmWave SDK software that is malfunctioning. Because the SDK app is unable to get the output from EVM."

Because the thread 1092373 has been closed for time out  of no further response, I create  this new thread.  I repost the issue again:

"  After flashing the device, Do we have to power off the device, to change the SOP jumpers to functional mode, then power up again. (or) We can directly change the SOP jumpers to functional mode after flashing is     successful with the power cable ON.
2. The SENSOR STOP button in the 'Plot' tab is not active even after pressing 'SEND CONFIG TO MMWAVE DEVICE' in 'Config' tab. What to do?
3. The same mmWave demo binary file given only has to be uploaded every time (or) Do we have to create a binary file to flash every time depending on need. If so how to create it.

If you like ,please check the thread 1092373 in link:

Sincerely Looking forward to your further support! Thank you very much!

  • Hello Miao,

So there is a new error i notice in the customers console that is the line 209 error in the console window.
Is there any extra modification you have done? This error was not noticed before right?

Also do not reset the board when you are connected to it via CCS, please do disconnect it and then only reset the board.

    Regards,
    Saswat Kumar

  • Hi Saswat ,

        Good day!

My customer reply me, please check his response, thank you so much!

" We did not get the error at line 209 before. All I have done is posted in my previous reply.
If you can see both the cores in CCS are showing "disconnected: Running" after error appeared in the mmWaveSDk. So I pressed sw2 to reset the the device after CCS is disconnected.

I have again performed the same. No error at 209 in the console window is shown this time.

Builded demo, flashed the device, changed to functional mode and connected to mmWave SDK.
Opened CCS. Connected to both the core and pressed reset in CCS and loaded DSS onto C67x and pressed reset in CCS and loaded MSS onto R4F. Fig. 86. Unlike before No error at line 209 is appeared in the console window.

    Ran C67X (Fig. 87)and then R4F(Fig. 88).

MMWave Demo message appeared in mmWaveSDk (Fig. 89).

Pressed SEND CONFIG TO MMWAVE DEVICE. Like last time it got disconnected error appeared in mmWaveSDK (Fig.90) and CCS (Fig. 91).

You can see in Fig. 91 both the cores are showing "Disconnected:Running". Last time I pressed sw2 here, as it is showing Disconnected.

just to make sure this time I pressed terminate in CCS and pressed sw2 on EVM and relaunched the config file in CCS.
(Fig. 92). This time both the cores are showing "Disconnected::Unknown."

Ran both the cores and pressed SEND CONFIG TO MMWAVE DEVICE. error appeared in mmWAVESDK and CCS。"

  • Hi miao,

Could you also tell the customer to use an oscilloscope to find out whether the 5V is the actual supply? Maybe try a different adapter as well? and then conduct the experiment.

    Regards,
    Saswat Kumar

  • Hi miao,

Could you also tell the customer to use an oscilloscope to find out whether the 5V is the actual supply and even the current if they have a current sensor? Maybe try a different adapter as well? and then conduct the experiment.

    Regards,
    Saswat Kumar

  • Hi Saswat,

        Thanks for your support!

I have asked the customer to check.

  • Hello Miao,

    Alright!

    Saswat Kumar

  • Hi Saswat,

        Thanks for your support!

My customer ask me to post his test result here:

" I have tested with another power adapter of 5V,3A we were using for TMS320C6748 board. It is working. The power adapter we bought was also 5V,3A. I guess it was not compatible.

Here is what I have done.
          Flashed the device (Fig.1)

Used mmWave SDK 3.6, As it was the first time I was using it.It prompted to install browser extension and TI cloud agent application. Did that. (Fig.2,3,4)

Connected the mmWave SDK with the device. (Fig.5)

Went to the plots section and loaded 'proile_3d.cfg'. (Fig.6)

          The plots are generated, (Fig.7).

Stopped the sensor to load 'proile_2d.cfg' for checking. It has worked for this too.
Checked with SEND CONFIG TO MMWAVE DEVICE from CONFIG tab of mmWave SDK. IT is also working.

           Still anything to be checked?"

          Thanks a lot!

    Best Regards
    Miao Bai

  • Hello Miao,

No it is working alright, just try to check once without commenting the LDO bypass config in the mss_main().
It should be working. We can close the thread after this check.

    Regards,
    Saswat Kumar

  • Hi Saswat,

Good day! Thanks for your patient support!

Please kindly help to check the test progress from the customer:

      "Flashed the device.
Changed to functional mode by setting (s2s1s0=001), pressed NRST botton to power cycle.
    COnnected mmWave SDK.
Opened CCS12 and created target config file and launched it. (Fig.3)

Connected C67x core and pressed reset in CCS. Connected R4F core and pressed reset in CCS. (Fig.3a)

    Loaded DSS into C67x core(Fig.4)

    Loaded MSS into R4F core(Fig.5)

Searched for LDO in mss_main(). Found a function from lines 699 to 704. Commented these lines. (I guess this is LDO bypass config you meant). (Fig.6)

    Ran C67x core(Fig.7)

    Ran R4F core
mmWave SDK message appeared in mmWAVe SDK (Fig.9)

    Loaded profile_3d.cfg (Fig.10)

    Result appeared (Fig.11)

Did I comment the correct lines for LDO bypass config? or are they some other lines?"

    Best Regards
    Miao Bai

  • Hello Miao,

I had mentioned to uncomment and revert the changes. Then rebuild the demo application and flash and try it.
In this case the user has commented it again.
Please do the same and let me know.

    Regards,
    Saswat Kumar

  • Hi Saswat,

        Good day!

Here is what my customer have done, please kindly check :

" Uncommented the LDO bypass COnfig (lines form 699 to 704) (Fig.1)

    Built the demo (Fig.5)

    Flashed the device (Fig.6)

Changed the EVM to functional mode, Power Cycled the device. Connected to mmWave SDK (Fig.7)

Opened CC, created configuration file. Lauched it. (Fig.9)

Connected to C67x core, Reset it in CCS. Connected to R4F core. Reset it in CCS. (Fig.10)

Loaded DSS into C67x, Loaded MSS into R4F (Fig. 12)

    Ran C67x core. (Fig.13)

    Ran R4F core(Fig.14)

mmWave Demo message appeared in mmWave SDK (Fig.15)

Loaded profile_3d.cfg from Plot tab. Output is appearing. (Fig.16)

Have I done the correct steps, still anything needed?"

    Thank you so much!

    Best Regards
    Miao Bai

  • Hello Miao,

When I mentioned uncommenting, I referred to the following lines which I had mentioned before to comment out:

    retVal = rlRfSetLdoBypassConfig(RL_DEVICE_MAP_INTERNAL_BSS, (rlRfLdoBypassCfg_t*)&gRFLdoBypassCfg);
The above line is what I am referring to.

Could you check if this is uncommented and working after rebuilding in case you need to make changes?
As long as you are getting values in the plot after uncommenting it should be fine, you do not need to attach all the steps anymore.

    Regards,
    Saswat Kumar

  • Hi Saswat,

My customer reply:"I have checked the line he mentioned was uncommented after rebuilding. Is It  ok right?"

        Thank you so much!

    Best Regards
    Miao Bai

  • Hi Miao,

Yes, then it works fine. The issue is resolved so I am closing this thread.

    Regards,
    Saswat Kumar
