AWR2243: AWR2243 configuration sequence

Hi TI engineer,

I measured SNR of 10dBsm corner reflector at 15m apart using AWR2243 cascaded radar.

Firstly, mmWaveLink_Cascade software was built, and measured SNR for 500 seconds.

As the temperature goes up to 100 ℃  for 500 sec, the measured SNR goes down approximately 3 dB.

I tried this test several times.

Most of the times the results are similar, but one case is different.

The SNR degradation is small, approximately 1 dB.

In 2nd figure, stop and restart of radar was done in discontinuity point.

In all test cases, the test was started at 40 ℃  and stops at 100 ℃.

The temperature was read from AWR2243.

I am using DFP 2.2.2.1.

I checked radar config. APIs(rlSensor.c) which affects this difference.

But I am not sure what API affects the SNR difference?

    I have another question.

    Max receiver gain is allowed to 52.

    But I can't find maximum tx gain and rx gain in temperature LUT.

    Would you let me know maximum txGain and rxGain in temperature LUT?

    Hi,

         The Max TX gain and RX gain is mentioned in the ICD under the TEMPLUT API explanation.

    Are you doing a CW tone or chirping? Ideally for prolonged continuous framing the SNR may initially reduce a bit but then should stay at a level.

    Hi Misra,

    In ICD, RX gain code is 

    this document says max RX gain is 17.

    And TX gain is as follows,

    Then max TX gain is 63.

    But I read the following LUT from the AWR2243.

    The gain table is different from those of ICD.

    I am doing chirp test.

    I checked the radar start sequence.

    It configures channel, ADC out, Ldo Bypass, Data format, Low Power mode, Rf init calib., Profile and Chirp.

    Is the Bpm Chirp Config is needed? And does Bpm Chirp Config affect SNR?

    I hope to know which API affect the SNR?
