LM99: Assigning a specific bit to be Read/Write

Part Number: LM99

Hi Team

Could you please help us to clarify this with our customer.

As per the customer, they are currently trying to interface with the LM99 diode temperature sensor. In the datasheet, it mentions assigning a specific bit to be Read/Write to retrieve temperature from the diode. The diagram that showcase the timing command does not make much sense. I was hoping to get some clarifications.

We are having a bit of confusion about the timing diagram below. For Frame 1, the R/W bit is drawn as low, which signify a “write”. I was wondering if we were supposed to have that bit low or high?

Thank you in advance.

Best regards,

Jonathan

  • Jonathan -

the R/W bit usage is defined by the I2C specification, where the last bit is a 0 for a write and a 1 for a read.

Figure 11 does appear to be in error (copy paste, most likely), so we apologize for the confusion. that diagram should have the 8th bit set to high.

I have used the submit document feedback link in the document and submitted a request to correct this.

Sorry for the confusion, but thanks for the help in finding this!
