IWR6843AOPEVM: mmWave Demo no-longer displaying radar data IWR6843AOP

Part Number: IWR6843AOPEVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: IWR6843AOP

I've been using various boards based on the IWR6843AOP packages for several months now for quite a number of experiments, both the Mistral based IWR6843AOPEVM as well as the D3 engineering based module.

However, I'm now not able use the mmWave Demo visualizer, either the 3.5 or the 3.6. It won't connect to the modules and if it does it doesn't display data.

It worked fine last week. Now, this week, no matter which of the 3 modules I use, It not only has difficulty connecting (the messages will say connecting 1 of 2 and just sit there for a few minutes with no change) but if it finally connects, nothing appears on the console messages. Switching over to the gives me no-results, starting and stopping the sensor gives no results. this is happening on my computer and one of my other engineer's computers as well, we are the only 2 using the sensors.

I've restarted my computer several times. My sensors are in run, not program. I'm connecting to the correct com ports at the correct baud rate. When I do finally/maybe get it to connect and it doesn't display any plot results, I sometimes can switch over to a Serial port monitor, such as CoolTerm and watch the live HEX code being streamed so I know it's capable of sending code and is actively sending code. As far as I can tell, the problem is software related around the DemoVisulaizer, not hardware.

I've made absolutely no hardware or software changes on my end from when it was working properly last week until it stopped working this week. Would someone from TI please get back to me ASAP?

thank you,

Peter

  • Hi Peter,

A few people have brought this to our attention this week, and while we're working on resolving the problem, you can download the tool at this link here and run it.

    Instructions:

    1. Follow the link

    https://dev.ti.com/gallery/search/demo%20visualizer

    2. Log in

    3. Navigate to Version 3.6.0

    4. Hover over the download button, and select the platform you're using

You'll need to download both the runtime and the platform. Note the runtime may take quite a while to install. Just be patient, and it should be up and running.

    Thank you!

    Nate
