Other Parts Discussed in Thread: IWR1443
Hello,
I am using a IWR1443BOOST in conjunction with a DCA1000 board as part of a proof-of-concept scientific instrument.
I am contacting you regarding a worrying trend we have observed in data obtained from the IWR1443. When we tested the instrument right out of the box last March, the data we obtained did not exhibit any significant IQ imbalance, i.e. there was no folding of the range-FFT spectrum. However, later data acquired in August exhibited significant spectrum folding typical of IQ-imbalanced signal. The spectrum folding was present regardless of the chirp and frame parameters we used. I have attached the corresponding spectra to this message, with the orange curve showing the early, IQ-balanced data and the blue curve the later IQ imbalanced one:
I would be very grateful if you could let me know the answers to the following questions:
- What is the source of this IQ imbalance?
- Will IQ imbalance continue to worsen over time?
- How do you recommend that we mitigate or correct this imbalance?
- We have observed that the antennas of the board, which were clean when we received it, have become visibly corroded over the course of 5 months. Could this be a factor in the appearance of IQ imbalance or cause other issues?
Thank you very much in advance for your assistance.
