AWR1642BOOST: Out of Box Error - No plots

I'm using the AWR1642 BOOST and the Out of Box Demo and I've found some problems. Despite being connected in the screenshot it took a lot of tries to connect the device (it was "stuck" at "connecting to 1 of 2 targets"). Nevertheless i've found another problem. I sent the configuration that I wanted to the device and didn't get errors in the console but the plot is empty and the profiling section says undefined in all of the parameters. I've also tried to save the configuration to the PC and load it after but the result is the same.

Hi,

It is helpful to have some background.

Is this a new EVM? Has this EVM been used before successfully?

Have you flashed the mmWave SDK demo on the EVM? Are you familiar with SOP settings?

I've used this EVM before and flashed the mmWave SDK demo also. In one day it was working perfectly fine and in the next day I couldn't make it work.

Thank you for this additional information.

After flashing the demo and configuring the correct SOP mode to run the demo, please perform the following

Power on the EVM
Check in Windows Device Manager the User COM port
Start a serial Terminal, configure the COM port and Baud Rate (115200)
Type Enter on the keyboard
You should see the "mmWave" prompt in the Terminal window.

If you don't see the "mmWave" prompt in the Terminal window, this means that the demo does not run properly on the EVM.

This usually indicates that there is a hw problem with the EVM.

This indicates that the flashed demo runs correctly on the EVM.

So, if there is any issue, it is the communication between EVM and Visualizer.

Next step is to try to load one of the provided configurations.

For example

C:\ti\mmwave_sdk_03_05_00_04\packages\ti\demo\xwr16xx\mmw\profiles\profile_2d.cfg

If this works, it means that the custom configuration you have generated is not supported by the mmWave SDK oob demo.

It is important to realize that the oob demo does not support all the possible vslid RF configurations. Indeed the demo has some limitations due to memory architecture.

Thanks for your answer.

I´ve tried what you suggested and the outcome does not exchange. The plots are "empty" and the profiling section is all "undefined".

Hi,

I was just informed that the Online Visualizer has an issue that is currently being debugged.

If you download the visualizer it should work fine.

Please go to dev.ti.com -> Gallery

Select the correct Visualizer version and download.

If you are using SDK 2.1 the Visualizer version is 2.10

If you are using SDK 3.x the Visualizer version is 3.6.0
