AWR1843: Possible or not with mmWave Demo Visualizer

I have two questions.

Firstly, Is it possible to connect mmWave Demo Visualizer with other than Boost or AOP like evaluation board for AWR.

Second, I am going to mmWave Radar with using AWR1843.
I want to watch wave form or measurement result on the visualiser.
Is my idea possible to realize?

Hi hiroyuki,

So it is possible to use your own custom board with the mmwave demo visualizer, you just need to ensure there are 2 UART ports, one which is the application port and the data port to send the cli commands and receive the outputs respectively.

The demo visualizer gets the final output in the coordinates, you will not be able to use it for the wave form analysis. For achieving this you need the DCA1000 to capture the raw ADC data over the LVDS and then write your own matlab script to be able to achieve this form of analysis.

(One is for Application Port, the other is for Data Port.)

Hi hiroyuki,

If you are using a custom board, could you tell me what interfacing are you using to communicate with your PC?
We think you might be using USB to mini b cable to connecting to your board. After that how are you converting the USB protocol to UART protocol( what chip or what module are you utilizing for this?)
For TI mmwave device AWR1843 we use the TM4C1294NCPDTT3(driver - XDS110) for converting the UART to USB, you can refer our schematics as well on www.ti.com/.../sprr370

・The interfacing which connect PC and custom board is USB protocol.

・I will use TM4C129x to convert the USB to UART.

(p.s.)
It is possibility to sold out 'TM4C129x', so we have to use instead of 'TM4C129x' .
Could you recommend serial converter.
(It is OK, other than IC)

Hi hiroyuki,

You can use any microcontroller for this purpose as long as it converts USB to UART.
As we use the TM4C1294NCPDTT3 we would suggest this.
