OPT3101: Min resolution

Dear team, 

My customer would like to use OPT3101 at their Robot application. please review below customer requirement and let me know whether OPT3101 is available for customer application or not. 

- Sensor to floor distance : Max 0.5 meter 

- Min resolution : 0.03 meter 

   ==> 50cm high from sensor to floor. And is it possible to distinguish the difference of 3cm?

- Ambient light condition : 130 klx

    Hello,

    The OPT3101 is an AFE with external optics.  When it comes to our AFE, the requirements shouldn't be a problem as there is an ambient cancellation circuit for performance in full sunlight of 130klux.  However, there are many factors that will determine the distance measurement and resolution: emitter and photodiode properties including FoV, responsivity, wavelength, etc, as well as device settings: current, sample rate, averaging, etc.  Also, target properties (size, reflectivity, etc) will play into determining the distance measurement.

    For this reason, we have created the system estimator to allow for inputting all these parameters to get an estimation on performance.  You may also want to start with our EVM and reference design to get an idea of the performance and place to start.
