Hello,

Please review the schematic attached. This is the older schematic that I am currently working with. I have a red arrow pointing to the obsolete or soon to be obsolete IC chip MC34063AD as a switch mode power supply. Can you please tell me a replacement ic chip that I can use instead? I want an ic chip that's not going to be obsolete for a long time. Also, if you have any suggestions for this old schematic that would be helpful as well. Thank you so much for your time and I look forward to talking with you.

Sincerely,

Sean Greene

  • Hi Sean,

Based on the schematic and MCD34063 ratings, it appears you need a buck regulator capable of 40Vin, 12Vout, 1.5A load current.

Can you please confirm your desired operating conditions (input voltage range, output current, output voltage looks like 12Vout, and desired switching frequency)?

    Regards,
