AWR1843: Is there any possible that let the awr1843 look at two specific angle at the same time with only tuning the parameters of the txPhaseShifter with three TX on awr1843 board?

Part Number: AWR1843

Hi! All!

Currently our company trying to use the AWR1843. Already read some documents and some related threads like this one IWR6843: txPhaseShifter parameter issue - Sensors forum - Sensors - TI E2E support forums

Focusing on the target from two directions with the azimuth of angle 75 and -45, respectively. Is that possible for the antenna look at the specific direction by tuning the txPhaseShifter(tune the main lobe to the specific angle)? If it is the case, what is the azimuth angle resolution of the degree near the angle 75 based on the awr1843 [3TX4RX]?

d=lambda/2

Is there any help? I'm very appreciate for your help! Thank you!

Best regards,

Webb

  • Hi,

    The performance of the sensor depends on the antenna. Are you considering using the AWR1843BOOST antenna?

    It is possible to use the phase shifter to steer the beam at a certain angle. This will improve the detection at that angle. However the detection will be limited by the field of view of the antenna, especially at 75deg.

    Please notice that this will not improve the angular resolution

    Thank you
