AWR2944: Safety Manual clarification for system noise

Part Number: AWR2944

Hello,

Within the AWR2944 safety manual, [SA_AWR294x_24] and [SA_ANA_AOU1] mentions "System Noise". Our first assumption was that it includes RF noise, noisy power supply, however to avoid missing the scope of your requirement and ensure that we fully cover it: could you please explicit what you mean by "System Noise" and what is behind this requirement?

Best Regards,

Lea

  • Hi Lea,

Your understanding is correct. "System Noise" here refers to any Conducted or radiated noise generated from the system an may impact the performance of the sensor. Conducted noise examples can be noise getting coupled to Crystal Pins, power supply pins(VDD, Synth, VBGAP, APLL, VCO), etc. Similarly any radiated noise in the 20GHz spectrum or IF band, etc.

    Regards

  • Hi Team,

As discussed over call. Typical system noise examples can be:

    • Noise getting coupled to Crystal Pins
    • Noise power supply pins(VDD, Synth, VBGAP, APLL, VCO)
    • Noise in 20GHz Spectrum from some block on the system
    • Noise in IF Band
    • Parasitic in the PCB layout
    • Coupling from PMIC
    • Coupling from Interface components.
    • Coupling in between the power rails(1.2V to 1.0V, 1.8V to 1.0V, etc)
    • Decaps breakage

There can be many more sources, but being a system expert ZF is more capable to list or predict and prepare for them.

     Regards
