AWR1843AOPEVM: NRST and 5V LED does not glow when 5V, 3A power supply is connected to Power Connector J5

Part Number: AWR1843AOPEVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR1843AOP

I just got my AWR1843AOPEVM. I bought a 5V, 3A power supply with a 2.1mm barrel jack connector with center positive.

When I plug only the  5V, 3A power supply to the J5 power connector, the NRST (LD5) and 5V LED (LD1) does not glow. I have not connected the micro-USB cable yet.

Q01: If plug only the power supply, according to the EVM user guide(page 13), the NRST and 5V LEDs should glow. Since it is not glowing, does this mean that the board is damaged?

However, if I separately connect only the micro-USB cable connected to a USB 3.1 power (with the power supply disconnected from the J5 connector), I can see the 5V LED (LD1), NRST (LD5) and GPIO2 (LD3) LEDs glow.

My concern is that the module is only drawing USB power, which may not be sufficient (900mA) for the AWR1843AOP to operate.

  • Hello,

It does seem like something is wrong if you are not seeing any LED with the power jack but you do see them with the USB supply.

If you power from the power jack and probe the outputs of the PMIC, do you see the correct voltages on the PMIC rails?

    Regards,

    Adrian
