AWR2243: CAD Schematic Symbol Pin Name Errors: AWR2243ABGABLQ1

Part Number: AWR2243

Hi team,

Customer has THREE questions, please help to solve the problem

1)I downloaded the ultra librarian CAD/CAE symbol frome below link for AWR2243ABGABLQ1 for Altium with Functional Symbol Pin Ordering and after review, I found 3 errors when validating signal names in the symbol vs the datasheet.

vendor.ultralibrarian.com/.../

P4,R3  was labeled as Reserved but should be I2C_SCL and I2C_SDA respectively

 R7 was SPI_CS_1_N should be SPI_CS_1.

Please verify and update symbol as needed.

2)Also in the evaluation schematic, it looks like a different version of the symbol is used and R7 in this version is correct but P4 and R3 still show reserved but are connected to SCL and SDA respectively.  Also, P12 should be NRESET, pin name is incorrectly should as RESET but net lable does correctly reflect NRST.

There's also mismatches within the datasheet HS_Debug signal names.  Example HS_M_Debug1 (used in Ultra Librarian symbol) vs HS_Debug1_M (used in evaluation schematic)

Table 8.1 TX1-4 should be TX1-3

3)   Pins that appear to be multifunctional but are not clearly identified as such.

J13 TDO/SOP0
P11 SYNC_OUT/SOP1
P13   PMIC_CLK_OUT/SOP2

Could you help?

Thanks & Regards,

Jiahui

  • Hello Jiahui,

    Please find my inputs below:

    1) The I2C feature was added at a later point in time using reserved pins. You can refer to the datasheet usage of these pin for I2C operation. SPi_CS pin is an active low signal, hence denoted by _N in the symbol. The SPI timing diagram in the datasheet also indicates the active operation of the SPI_CS signal.

    2) The Reset pin in the TI EVM also has a 'bar' above the RESET , which is another way of indicating nReset is an active low signal. The snapshot shown above does not seem to match the document online for the TI evaluation board. See below the snapshot from the evaluation board below.

The text of "HS_DEBUG1_M " was just reshuffled in the datasheet to "HS_M_DEBUG1" to fit into the ball area. Both are exactly the same, I dont see an issue there.

    3) In the absolute max rating table, TX1-4 is mentioned. This is an error , it should be TX1-3. We will correct this in the next update.

    4) All the functionality of the pins are not added in the pin name. The datasheet captures all the options for pins with multiple functionalities.

How does reshuffling text make it fit into the ball area, number of characters are the same but the value is different so not exactly the same but sure they are technically the same for consistency sake they should be the same HS_DEBUG1_M seems to be more in line with other pin names.  It's preferable for the names to be the same to make cross checking faster.

How often are the ultra librarian symbols updated?  shouldn't these be updated along with the release of a revised datasheet

It's possible my EE provided an older version of the evaluation schematic, glad to see that was updated.  Can the text be updated from NRESET to nRESET it's a lot easier to spot in the latter convention.  Also, the ultra librarian symbol uses the other convention RESET_N which again differs from the evaluation schematic.

Is there a reason why we're provided a different symbol than what's used in the evaluation board?

This of course applies to other pins like NERROR.....

  • Hello Francis,

The CAD symbol uploaded on the web page is maintained by a central team in TI. We will try to contact them and discuss some of these points you bring up. You can always edit the symbol at your end based on your requirements.

  • Hi Vivek,

    Sorry for bother you again.

    Francis has new feedback

" The step model also has the wrong height it's measuring only 0.62mm should be 1.17mm"

    Could you help?

    Thanks & Regards,

    Jiahui

  • Hello Jiahui,

We will look into the model. meanwhile you can use the height information from the datasheet.
