BOOSTXL-TUSS4470: BOOSTXL-TUSS4470 Time of Flight

Part Number: BOOSTXL-TUSS4470
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP-EXP430F5529LP, TUSS4470, TDC7201, TDC7200, TDC1000

I have two BOOSTXL-TUSS4470 I need to link these to be master and slave, as to take a ToF measurement between PMMA transducers?

The manual says:

3.5.2.5.3 External Sync and Trigger To synchronize the time-of-flight command with an external system or another TUSS44x0 EVM, use the external sync and trigger run feature. When the En checkbox is checked, the GUI/EVM becomes a syncslave, where BOOSTXL-TUSS44x0 pin-11 monitors for a low-to-high transition. The Master checkbox enables the GUI/EVM to act as the sync-master, such that the MSP-EXP430F5529LP forces a low-to-high transition on BOOSTXL-TUSS44x0's pin-13 when the START button is clicked in the Run Options group.

How do I link two TUSS4470s together?

Kind regards

Ben

  • Hello Ben,

Thanks for posting to the sensing forum! It seems like someone else posted a thread on your behalf: https://e2e.ti.com/support/sensors-group/sensors/f/sensors-forum/1170535/tuss4470-product-recommendationt

If you would like to continue conversation through that thread feel free to reply there. But it seems like the TUSS4470 was not the right device you needed. If you are looking for a timer my recommendation would be the TDC7200 and TDC7201 devices.

If you need echo generation the TDC1000 is not able to generate the voltage you require but is able to handle any return echoes in the 2.5MHz range. There is a problem with the TDC1000 where it can miss the first threshold cross on the zero cross comparator which could cause some slight error to your TOF.

I hope this helps let me know if you have any other questions!

    Best,

    Isaac
