Radar Measure Diameter of a Cylinder

Hi,

Good Day.

The customer would like to order a radar that can help measure the diameter of a cylinder (the cylinder is 200 mm in diameter). They would like the radar to produce approximately 10 points on the front face of the cylinder. Currently, automotive radar doesn't seem to have the resolution that they need (their current radar identifies the cylinder as a single point).

Do we have a product for this? Please advise. Thank you very much.

Typically, the radar will try to consolidate many points all co-located into a single peak through CFAR. This is good for detecting and tracking moving objects like people and cars, but it's not necessarily how you would like to image a surface. If the customer is trying to image many points on the same surface at the same distance with the same reflectivity, they will likely need a DCA1000 to view the raw radar data and devise an appropriate imaging algorithm.
