If a hall switch such as the DRV5032 were to cease operating, what would it's failure condition be i.e. would the output essentially be high impedance or would it pull to GND or HIGH?

That might depend on the conditions that caused the DRV5032 to cease operating. Are you wanting to know how the device will fail if the absolute maximum supply value is exceeded?

I appreciate the response. My main concern long is term reliability and having some contingency in place in case a failure were to happen. I'm relatively new to hall effect switches so I'm not even sure how a failure could happen under normal operating conditions e.g. where absolute maximum supply is not exceeded, but if a failure were to happen what would happen? Also, Is there any circumstance in which the sensor might lock up or cease to respond to a magnetic field? Maybe the voltage ramp up is too slow or fast or unstable?

From what I have been told, if there is an issue with the internal power block, the output is expected to go low. However, if one of the other internal circuit blocks fails somehow, the device output would be stuck at whatever the last state was. Along with this information, I was told we cannot presently guarantee a failure mode.
As for a ramp up criterion, the DRV5032 does not have one as the abs max table specifies the "Power supply voltage slew rate" as unlimited.
