TIDEP-01017: About calculating resolution

Part Number: TIDEP-01017

Hello, the angular resolution was shown in Table 3 of the following material.

tidueq8.pdf

Azimuth Array and Elevation Array in Table 3 of this document.

Azimuth Array is written as 86 Element Virtual Array, but it is not 86 even after calculation.
(How is this calculated?
please tell me. )

To put it simply, the Elevation Array has 4 in the elevation direction, so is it correct to assume that you are calculating with only those 4?

  • Hi Hiroyuki-san,

Please find the antenna pattern for your reference.

Angular resolution is calculated as θres in radians = 2/N (where θ = 0 or bore sight and N is number of virtual antennae). For 86 virtual antennae in azimuth plane (refer diagram), res = 2/86 * 57.29 = approximately 1.4 degrees.

Similarly for elevation, 4 antennae corresponding to the elevation plane are considered as you mentioned.

    Regards,

    Kaushik
