FDC2214: fsensor parameter

Part Number: FDC2214

Hello,

I would like you to confirm about below.

* According to datasheet, it seems that user should need to set that fsensor is less than 10MHz. (Of course, I understand this depends on CHx_FIN_SEL parameter.)
However, for example, when user use 40MHz CLKIN, it seems fsensor can be set up to 80MHz.
If, fsensor become over 10MHz, what kind of problem will happen ?

  • Hello Ryuuichi,

Thanks for considering to use Texas Instruments.  If you use the device outside the recommended specifications, we cannot guarantee that it will work, and if it does appear to be working, it may be with significant errors.  I suspect in this particular instance that the signal going through INxA and INxB collapses.  At the higher fsensor frequency there are likely more poles that reduce the closed loop gain such that the signal is sufficiently dampened and does not oscillate.
