IWR6843ISK-ODS: mmWave Demo Visualizer platform, sdk version and antenna config

Hi,

    I use IWR6843ISK-ODS for people detection in a room, and want to get people x,y,z coordinate in mmWave Demo Visualizer,but now I can not do it.

    Software has been installed,including: mmWave Demo Visualizer 3.5(have been flash xwr68xx_mmw_demo.bin), sdk 3.5.

    parmeter 1:

    platform:xWR68xx_AOP   SDK version:3.5   Antenna Config:4Rx,3Tx(30 Azim 30 Elev)

    Warning : Selected Platform [xWR68xx_AOP] not matching that reported by target [xWR68xx].

    parmeter 2:

    platform:xWR68xx   SDK version:3.5   Antenna Config:4Rx,3Tx(15deg + Elevation)

    mmWave demo visualizer can run normally, but the Antenna Config is not match of IWR6843ISK-ODS, 

    Is right of the coordinate  mmWave demo visulizer 3D Scatter plot display?

    when I use IWR6843ISK-ODS, which platform and Antenna should I choose?

    Hi,

    The demo seems to be running correctly in the second picture you shared. For IWR6843ISK-ODS, platform:xWR68xx   SDK version:3.5   Antenna Config:4Rx,3Tx(15deg + Elevation) is correct. Are you facing any specific issues with this configuration or just looking for confirmation?

    HI，

    Azimuth and Elevation of  IWR6843ISK-ODS is 120°, and the degree resolution is 30°, but  Antenna Config:4Rx,3Tx(15deg + Elevation) is mmWave Demo Visualizer,.Software setting is mismathch the hardawre parameter, Is the software result correct？ It makes me feel very confused.

    Hi,

    I apologize for the confusion. I noticed you are using version 3.5 of the mmWave Demo Visualizer. Please use the latest version (3.6) which supports version 3.6 of the mmWave SDK. Additionally, I want to confirm you have flashed the ODS binary located at <RADAR_TOOLBOX>\source\ti\examples\Out_Of_Box_Demo\prebuilt_binaries\out_of_box_6843_ods.bin in the latest Radar Toolbox release available on dev.ti.com. 

    The "Antenna Config" parameter in the demo visualizer is only used to determine which antennas should be enabled. The azimuth angular resolution is based on the virtual antenna pattern, 15 deg refers to the resolution for the ISK antenna pattern. With ODS the actual resolution would be ~30 deg.

    Bsed on your suggestion, flash the out_of_box_6843_ods.bin in IWR6843ISK-ODS, use software version 3.6 (sdk and mmWave Demo Visualizer),

    When I select xWR6843xx platform, a warning message is displayed, "Selected Platform [xWR68xx] not matching that reported by target [xWR68xx_AOP]."

    If select xWR68xx_AOP, mmWave Demo Visualizer works normally.

    No xWR68xx _ODS is in the platform items. Is it right to select xWR68xx_AOP when using  IWR6843ISK-ODS?

    Hi,

    This is actually a known bug with this version of the mmWave Demo Visualizer. I will need to double check if the data is displayed correctly when xWR68xx_AOP is selected. In the mean time, you can also run the out of box demo using the Industrial Visualizer in the Radar Toolbox which I have linked here. This visualizer will also allow you to see the 3D Point Cloud but does not include some of the other plots which are available in the mmWave Demo Visualizer.

    Thanks for your suggestion.I will learn to how to use Industrial Visualizer.

    At the same time, please check data is right when select xWR68xx_AOP, thank you.
