IWR6843AOPEVM: I want to reduce azimuth and elevation FoV.

Part Number: IWR6843AOPEVM

Hello.

The IWR6843AOPEVM knows that the FoV of azimuth and elevation is 120 degrees.

I want to reduce azimuth and elevation to 30 degree, can you tell me which part I need to change?

And I have an additional question.

I would like to measure Boresight(distance) using the Out of Box example program, calculate the angle of inclination (degree), and calculate the height (h) the radar is attached to.

h = distance * sin(degree)

Can you measure boresight of radar?

  • Hi,

    In order to modify the antenna FOV, you would likely need to design your own antenna for the device. I am not sure I understand the second part of your question entirely, can you elaborate on what you are hoping to achieve?

    Best Regards,
    Alec

  • Looking at the picture, if the red line is the Azimuth and Elevation (120 degree) of the original radar, the received signal I need is about the blue line (Azimuth and Elevation 30 degree).

    Signals received at other angles are not required.

  • I am trying to measure the water level.

  • Hi,

    Typically these types of applications are referred to Level Sensing, similar to the High Accuracy Level Sensing Demo available in the Radar Toolbox. These applications typically only use 1TX and 1RX antenna (since angle info is not required). You could artificially restrict the FOV via SW by throwing away data from everywhere except the region of interest, but to restrict the physical FOV you would likely require a different antenna layout or a lens to focus the beam.
