LDC1312EVM: USB device not recognised

Part Number: LDC1312EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LDC1312

I have been using the LDC1312 until i did a firmware update.

The board is now not recognised  when connected and has no LED lit.

I followed the [FAQ] My Inductive Sensing EVM won't connect to the GUI. How can I fix it? - Sensors forum - Sensors - TI E2E support forums, however after successfully following all the steps I am still unable to connect the device to the GUI software or have the USB recognised .

Any advice is welcome.

  • Hello,

Sorry you are having this issue. I have a clarification question for you. Does the EVM still show up in the device manager of your computer? If so, what does it show up as?

  • Hi, I 've attached an image of what the device is showing up as.

    Thank you

  • Hello,

Based on that image, there are a few things you can try to get the board communicating again:

    • Try manually assigning the EVM driver. The driver should look like the following:
    • You can put the board back into BSL mode and reflash it.
      • The BSL mode should work even after a failed flash attempt
      • If you get the device in BSL mode, then flashing should occur the same as before.
    • Check the 5V testpoint near the MCU to make sure the power is still working properly on the board.

  • There is currently no driver available, after trying to update the driver with the provided driver file, the board still isn't registering the driver. There is no driver awaiting update either and the PC has been restarted.

When placing the board into BLS mode, the board was able to successfully download the program and say 'Programming Ok'. However still no change to the board.

  • Hello,

To clarify the reprogramming, does the LED on the board light up now after the firmware was successfully flashed?

Have you tried this board on other computers? Also, if it is plugged into a USB hub, have you tried plugging it into the computer USB port directly?

    Best Regards,

    Justin Beigel

  • Hi, there are no LEDs lit on the board but there is 5V at the test point to GND.

And yes we have tried different computers and USB points with no luck.

  • Hello,

If the firmware flashing is not getting the EVM to show up and the LEDs are still off, something on the MCU portion of the board may have been damaged somehow. You may still be able separate the MCU and LDC portions of the board and still use the LDC with a different controller.
