AWR1843: The effect of the metal casing on the antenna?

Hi Expert,

Because of client organization constraints,
Customers use metal material around the protective case of 77 GHz Radar, there is no way to change it,
But the front of the radar antenna is definitely not covered by metal.

So our question is,
If there is a metal casing around the PCB antenna,
May I ask what is the distance and height between the metal case and the PCB antenna so as not to affect the radar field?

    Hi Daniel,

    The best thing to do here is to import the metal case into HFSS model file and simulate to see the impact of the metal casing on the antennas FOV.  You can tune the height and distance of the metal casing, so its impact is minimal.
