IWR6843AOP: Can I get individual velocity of x and y. That is vx and vy from people counting demo application?

Hello,

I have 2 quetions.

1. I am working on object tracking application. For this, I need velocity x and velocity y. But in people counting demo, I can get only velocity. Is it possible to get vx and vy?

2. Is it possible to ge angle of velocity which is angle between veloctiy vector and x axis.

Hi Nikhil,

In the people counting demo you can get the velocity of each track in the Target List TLV.

You can get velocity for each point in the Compressed Point Cloud TLV. But, you cannot infer x and y velocity from velocity for each point as it's computed radially (how fast is the point moving in the vector generated between the point and the radar device.

This is not possible due to the explanation above. You may also read the fundamentals of radar paper here or watch the video series to understand more about how the FMCW radar works.
