IWR6843ISK: 3D people counting: Classification of human from non-human and Increase in the range

Hi,

I'm researching on developing a classification model on IWR6843 to differentiate human from non-human (It is an outdoor application). We need a distance of minimum 20 meters. Why are we recommended to develop the model based on the data from 3D people counting demo and not area scanner? Area scanner configuration also could be increased upto 20 meters. Is it possible that 3D people counting configuration also be increased to 20 meters? What demo is the ideal one to develop a classification model and why? Incase I use IWR6843AOP would the results be the same for the 20 meters? Looking forward to hear from you.

Hi Divya,

Either Area Scanner and 3D People Counting could be used. Both will be able to measure people at 20 meters.

3D People Counting was probably recommended because it uses the MVDR/Capon toolchain that results in a denser point cloud.

The AOP and ISK antenna patterns vary. Either can detect people at this range, but they will have differing performance. Typically we see the best range with the ISK or ODS EVMs
