IWR6843AOPEVM: People counting application basics for third party microcontroller with I2C communications

Part Number: IWR6843AOPEVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MMWAVEICBOOST,

Hi,

I want to develop a people counting application with this sensor and was wondering what the steps are in order to incorporate this sensor to my existing platform that has a non-TI microcontroller.

Is it possible to create such an application by just communicating to the sensor via I2C?

I've read that the MMWAVEICBOOST board can help with development and I am willing to test aspects of the application using that, however will I be able to get the needed data for a people counting application that would work in a building entrance for instance, with just the IWR6843AOPEVM board?

thanks

  • Hi,

You can interface with our device via I2C. The device interfaces over UART by default, but this could be modified.

You can run the application and modify the configuration and software with the IWR6843AOPEVM board, but if you want to debug the code (step through it line-by-line), you'll need the MMWAVEICBOOST board.

    Best,

    Nate
