AWR 1843: .dat file in demovisualizer

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR1843

Can you please help us the following doubts technically, to help us tune the TI AWR 1843 Boost's config file manually?

  1. Can the transmitter and receiver sizes be changed? Are there any available augmentations? (specifically how does it compare with available radars like Nanoradar which has antenna pattern as attached). What are the pros and cons of such changes in antenna pattern especially no of antenna nodes as in images attached. (Nanoradar and TI AWR 1843)

  2. If we want to increase the SNR or sense weaker reflections (Wires generally), how do we go about it? One way is to increase the time per frame, which is generally restricted by memory. How does changing no of RX/TX affect the detection of weaker reflections.

  3. In continuation with 2) How to choose minimum number of ADC samples and maximum samples (based on memory usage)?

  4. What are the effects of electromagnetic interference on the radar reading if placed close to the motors and effect of motor vibrations on the accuracy of the radar?

  5. How do the number of objects detected get decided? What algorithm is working in the background?

  6. Difference between AWR1843 and 6843?

  7. How can we increase no of points detected on a single obstacle?

  8. Can the raw data be extracted?

  9. What if two/three sensors are placed side by side- will it cause any issues?

  10. Can the sensor be used to detect the ground and its undulations?

  11. Are the algorithms (code/details) running in the background available to users?

  12. Does the orientation of the object affect the detection – square/polygonal cross-sections?

  13. Does surface texture affect the detection – tree trunk detection?
