IWR6843AOP: About the radar range equation used in "Detection layer parameter tuning guide for 3D people counting demo”

Part Number: IWR6843AOP

Hi,

In page 50 of "Detection layer parameter tuning guide for 3D people counting demo",the equation used to calculate maximum detection range is as follows:

My question is :

1、What is the noise bandwidth used in this equation?

2、How to derive this equation?Could you give some reference that explain how it's derived?

  • 1、What is the noise bandwidth used in this equation?

Where do you see noise bandwidth?

2、How to derive this equation?Could you give some reference that explain how it's derived?

This is a modification of the Friis equation

  • Hi,Nathan

1、Where do you see noise bandwidth?

The normal radar equation has noise bandwidth as denominator,as it determines the power of noise. But it didn't appear in the equation above. So I guess it was merged with other parameter. To comfirm this ,I first need to know the noise bandwitdh used in this equation.

2、This is a modification of the Friis equation

Actually, the two questions are related. But I couldn't find the same form equation as above in other materials. So,if you could provide me with related reference,I would really appreciate it.

    Thanks!

  • Hi Hongyu,

I don't have the derivation for this particular variant of the radar equation. Feel free to use an equation that uses the terms you're familiar with. Fundamentally it should all be the same.
