Typically the ask of RCS of the corner reflector is minimum oriented to ensure ti serves the purpose along with ease of mounting too. The CR listed by you should be good.

Can I ask about the requirement of ~5m distance from radar? Is that also a 'good-to-have' criteria to ensure detection for calibration or can I put it closer e.g. ~2m away?

The ~5m distance requirement is a must have as a closer shall impact the calibration effectivity.

Can check how does placing the trihedral closer impact the calibration? Since the frequency calibration formula in the documentation doesn't have a range dependent factor other than the delta P which indicates the FFT peak index difference which I suppose changes according to where the CR is placed along range axis? So it should scale/change according to where the CR is

That is correct. However, if you keep a smaller distance the effectivity of calibration for farther regions may differ. That is the sole reason we advice to keep the CR at boresight and preferably at a distance of 5m.

One more thing, if there is no clean room for me to conduct this calibration test, can I still do it in an open field with as little clutter as possible (albeit not completely clean)?

Also, can I just truncate the number of range/azimuth samples if clutter is found further up in distance/angle from the supposed CR position?

Hi,

             Yes you can try to conduct in open air also, however ensure you don't have strong objects closer to corner reflector.

For the calibration I would prefer to have a very clean environment till the range of interest.
