Step 7 Sanity Test that demo was flashed and runs successfully • It is possible to perform a quick sanity test that the demo was flashed and runs on the EVM after power up. • When the demo starts running it will send a prompt using the UART “Enhanced COM Port”. • Here is how we can test • Connect the AOP EVM to the PC using the micro USB cable to power on the board. • Open a serial emulator terminal such as Tera Term (ttssh2.osdn.jp/index.html.en) o Select Serial and the “Enhanced COM Port” number COM 18 (in this example), Select OK o Select Setup-> Serial port… o Update the “Baud rate” to 115200, Select OK o Type Enter on the PC Keyboard o If the demo has been flashed and runs on the board one should see the prompt “mmwDemo :/>

mmwave_sdk_user_guide:

If the COM ports don't show up in the Device Manager or are not working (i.e. no demo output seen on the data port), then one of
these steps would apply depending on your setup:
If you want to run the Out-of-box demo, simple browse to the Visualizer (dev.ti.com/mmWaveDemoVisualizer) and
follow the one-time setup instructions.
If you are trying to flash the board, using Uniflash tool and following the cloud or desktop version installation instructions
would also install the right drivers for the COM ports.
If above methods didnt work and if TI code composer studio is not installed on that PC, then download and install the stand
alone XDS110 drivers.
If TI code composer studio is installed, then version of CCS and emulation package need to be checked and updated as
per the mmWave SDK release notes. See section Emulation Pack Update for more details.

If you want to run the Out-of-box demo, simple browse to the Visualizer (dev.ti.com/mmWaveDemoVisualizer) and follow the one-time setup instructions.

I only want to  run the Out-of-box demo.

I change my SOP2,1,0 =1,0,1 (Short,Open,Short)

A closed jumper refers to a 1 and an open jumper refers to a 0 state of the SOP signal going to the AWR
device. 

It will cause error:

For Flashing Mode (SOP mode 5 101) SOP 0 and SOP 2 have jumpers and are connected, SOP1 is not connected:

After changing the SOP mode, power off/on the EVM

For flashing you will need to use in Uniflash the User Port: - COM3 in your case

I did above. If SOP=101,mmWave DEMO won't show "hardware connected".
