AWR6843: How to check signal and noise levels entering the RX antenna

Part Number: AWR6843
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: , DCA1000EVM, INA226

Hello~

I am designing the product using AWR6843 parts.

I want to know how to check the noise or signal level entering the RX channel of the antenna.

Q1) What UI, Equiment and tools should be used by the TI?

Q2) Need to check which circuit should be applied in AWR6843ISK circuit for Q1

Please check.

  • Hi Junhee,

Such measurements can be done using the mmWave Studio along with AWR6843ISK. You can disable the TX's and only enable RX's to check the IDLE channel noise floor.

Then for the signal level measurement you can use a corner reflector at known distance.

Please note these noise floor measurement through studio(integrated post processing) would be dependent on the typical RF and RX gain configured in the device.

    Regards

  • Thank you for yor reply.

    DCA1000EVM and AWR6843ISK ware connected.

And I'm tring to check with mmWaveStudio, but it's not connecting.

    1. I want to know how to set up the Switch and IP

        - DCA1000EVM : SW1, SW2, SW3, IP setting

        - AWR6843ISK :SW1

    2. What image file(*.bin) should I load to AWR6843ISK?

    3. Why is the current sensor part(INA226) of AWR6843ISK used?
