AWR1843BOOST: Warm Reset LED Always On

Part Number: AWR1843BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DCA1000EVM, , IWR6843ISK

I am trying to set up a DCA1000EVM with an AWR1843BOOST, following the DCA quick start, user manual, and the AWR1843BOOST user manual. I couldn't get the XDS110 COM ports to show up in device manager and as I investigated I found the warm reset LED was always on (the picture is blurry, but the red LED at the bottom of the image is the warm reset LED). Is a constant-on warm reset the reason the XDS ports aren't showing up? Is this a hardware fault?

I have the drivers installed and have used an IWR6843ISK successfully which, I believe, uses the same drivers. The four DCA COM ports are showing up fine.

  • Hi,

If the BOOST is not connected to the DCA1000, do you see XDS ports?

    Thank you

    Cesar

  • Cesar,

Thank you for the quick response. Disconnecting the DCA1000 allows my computer to see the COM ports and doesn't cause the warm reset LED to be illuminated.

  • Hi,

Are you planning to use mmWave Studio?

I don't think the SOP configuration is correct.

For using mmWave Studio you should use

      • SOP Settings: SOP0=ON; SOP1=ON; SOP2=OFF

    Thank you

    Cesar

  • 1) Powering the two boards from the barrel plug on the AWR and the power selection switch on the DCA set to RADAR_5V_IN the board powers up with the warm reset LED off and the COM ports visible on my computer. The DS4 LED (nRESET) now illuminates yellow, not sure if that's a problem.

    2) I am planning on using MMWave Studio. With the pins in that position ([2:0] 011) and the ribbon cable connected the DS4 LED illuminates yellow and running the "DATA_CAPTURE_xWR" script from MMWave Studio returns the following:

    3) With just the AWR board powered on I am able to use the demo visualizer.

  • Hi,

Make sure that the SPI port is enabled on the BOOST EVM. There is a switch on the board that switches between SPI and CAN. Please make sure it is in SPI position. Please see the BOOST EVM User Guide for more details.

Instead of running the "DATA_CAPTURE_xWR" script can you please try to configure MMWave Studio manually as shown in this video

    Thank you
