DRV5013: Hall sensor, alphabets annotation

Part Number: DRV5013

Hi, I need to know how the sensors are classified based on the alphabets in the Part number. I see current sensors-based Hall sensors starts with TCS, Multi-axis Hall sensors start with TMAG, Linear Sensors start with DRV. But in Latch and Switch based Hall sensor, I see both DRV and TMAG. Can someone please clarify on what basis the annotation is being made?

  • Sweshwaran,

Thank you for reaching out with this question.  The DRV designator was attached to these devices originally when the motor drive team launched this product family.  As the magnetic sensing opportunity grew, it was decided that the TMAG prefix would be used to more clearly distinguish magnetic sensing from motor drive.  Going forward the intent is to use TMAG for all new devices (linear, latch, and switch), but I do not believe it likely that the existing products with the DRV prefix would get renamed.

    Thanks,

    Scott
