IWR6843AOPEVM: How to disable CFAR ?

Hi,

I am interested in getting RD-map data (without DCA1000) from IWR6843AOPEVM. I realized that CFAR processing is performed before it is sent to COM port for demo visualizer.

I tried making CFAR of 0DB but seem like it's not fully disabled. Can you please point me on how i can get RD-map without CFAR processing so that i can collect it from COM port.

Hi Vinay,

See the guiMonitor command in the mmWave SDK Demo for an example of this. You should be able to export the rangeDopplerHeatMap by setting it to 1.

Thanks, Nathan, for your reply.

My Question is how can i get RD-map without passing through CFAR . As per the block diagram here , i see that guiMonitor demo gets data of point clouds post CFAR. Since i am interested in studying the scattering spread of target, i want to disable CFAR, which seem like not possible. Can you please check whether CFAR can be disabled and we can get RD-map directly to COM port ?

Hi Vinay,

The rangeDopplerHeatMap should be sending the entire heatmap, not just the detected points. See the documentation at the link provided above. This screenshot is from the relevant section on page 26.

Thanks Nathan. You are right guiMonitor gave an option of RD-heatmap. I could able to set and reduced it to 2fps and downloaded about 10sec worth of data.

But i am not sure, how i can process it to get same RD-heatmap that demo visualizer shows. Can you please point me out on what format and how to parse the data file ?xwr68xx_AOP_processed_stream_2023_03_09T10_27_36_018.dat
