IWR6843ISK: How can I get the Cloud point data from the simulated COM for further process?

Hi,

I am using IWR6843ISK for Human Activity Recognition . After flashed out -of-box demo bin, mmWave_Demo_Visualizer_3.6.0 on my PC works well. There is some questions :

My development environment is windows10.

1、I want to get Cloud point data for further process, eg. for machine learning....

2、How can I get the Cloud point data(not raw ADC data) from the simulated COM for further process？ There is sample C/C++ Source code for reference?

3、In user guide manual, I read " mmWave_Demo_Visualizer export a dat file which contains 3D point cloud data", what is the path of the exported dat file？

Hi David,

To get the point cloud data, you will want to connect to the DATA COM port via a some sort of terminal program like PuTTy. You can then parse and record the data.

To understand the format of serial data, look at this guide: Understanding UART Data Output Format

As the guide references, there is different type of outputs you can get via the TLVs (packets), you are interested in "Detected Points" payload type.

You can select the type of TLV payloads you get over UART via the guiMonitor command in the config (.cfg) file. See the SDK User's Guide Section 3.4 for more information:
