Hi, currently we are designing a mmWave radar sensor for industrial liquid level. The interface of this sensor product only has 2 wires for a 4~~20mA current loop. The power source of this current loop is 12v. Since the whole power supply is from the current loop, I'd be concerned about whether it has enough power. The max possible power derived from the 4~20mA is less than 12v*20mA=0.24W. However, from the datasheet of the IWR1443, the lowest power consumption is 1.73W with the 1TX 4RX 1.0v LDO bypass mode. This is obviously over the power capability of the 4~20mA. My question is
1. Can a power optimization solution for IWR1443 reduce the power consumption below 0.24W? Like 1TX1RX?
2. If the answer is no, is there any other TI chip that can be 4~20mA loop powered with 12v?
The system architecture is shown below.
