TMAG5170UEVM: GUI data stream break at the graphical view

Part Number: TMAG5170UEVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TI-SCB

Good day, colleagues,

I have a question regarding GUI for TMAG5170UEVM+TI-SCB Controller-Board,

The GUI seems to work in the cloud therefore a lot of traffic seems to flow.  Do we have local application for download to stop the traffic to the internet while measuring which is a high load to the processor of the computer? Do we have any other solution?

The graphical view will jump from one setting to the other. Up to now I have not managed to turn the knob slowly to see a steady moving curve. In fact the picture will jump when the data stream is breaking and refreshing again.

Thank you,

Daria

  • Daria,

The GUI can be downloaded from dev.ti.com by selecting this icon:

Whether run locally or from the cloud, the GUI enables data transmission directly from the TI-SCB to the local PC, and so there should be no internet traffic initiated from the GUI while taking measurements.

I'm a bit surprised you would be getting a choppy result, but the most likely cause I can imagine is that if the connection to any of the SPI pins is incomplete then the GUI will continue to attempt a read command and receive no input signal.  In this event, I would recommend securely holding the PCB near the knob connection while rotating to prevent any movement between the EVM and TI-SCB.

If this is not the case, a screen capture of your data may be helpful.

    Thanks,

    Scott
