IWR6843AOPEVM: verify best_range scene for 3D people counting demo

Part Number: IWR6843AOPEVM

Hi :

I used "mmwave Demo Visualizer" to design "best_range" of configuration as below, and apply the configuration with "3D people counting demo."  It seems so far so good  whiling I ran it on my IWR6843AOPEVM radar.

channelCfg 15 7 0
adcCfg 2 1
adcbufCfg -1 0 1 1 1
lowPower 0 0
bpmCfg -1 1 1 2
profileCfg 0 60 148 7 16.98 0 0 100 1 112 12499 0 0 158
chirpCfg 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 1
chirpCfg 1 1 0 0 0 0 0 6
chirpCfg 2 2 0 0 0 0 0 6
frameCfg 0 2 32 0 33.333 1 0

dynamicRACfarCfg -1 4 4 2 2 8 12 4 12 5.00 8.00 0.40 1 1
staticRACfarCfg -1 6 2 2 2 8 8 6 4 8.00 15.00 0.30 0 0
dynamicRangeAngleCfg -1 0.75 0.0010 1 0
dynamic2DAngleCfg -1 3.0 0.0300 1 0 1 0.30 0.85 8.00
staticRangeAngleCfg -1 0 8 8
fineMotionCfg -1 0 1.0 10 2

But I still  have some concerns about the configuration, particularly regarding the high frame rate, high ADC samples, and potential memory issues.

How can I verify that this configuration will not cause any failures or shut down my radar?

  • Hi,

I tried to run this configuration on radar for long run test and found two issues.

The radar has been running for 2~3 hours, but it hasn't sent out any data for some reason. It seems that the radar may be dead or there is an issue with data transmission.

Sencondly, during the radar running, there are error meaasge "'TLV Header Parsing Failure" occasionally appear.

Is it possible for TI team to assist me with verifying two issues that have been found?

  • Hello,

You mentioned in your first comment that the config seemed to work "so far so good", but in the second comment that "data hasn't sent out any data". Could you please comment on if data being sent out in the first place?

    Regards,
    Luke

  • Hi, Luke

    Sorry for this confusion.

In my first comment, I means that the radar was able to run the configuration I designed.

In my second comment, I tried to do the long run test on the same configuration, but it fail after 2~3 hours operation. I found that the radar stopped responding and became unresponsive.

I'm not sure how to identify the cause of the problem that's causing the failure. Can you help me verify what's causing the issue?

    Kyle

  • Hi Kyle,

Can you monitor the memory consumption? Perhaps there is a memory leak that is causing the device to lock up?

    Best,

    Nate
