IWR6843LEVM: I want to check the noise coming into the RX channel using mmwave studio

Part Number: IWR6843LEVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DCA1000EVM, AWR6843, AWR6843ISK, , UNIFLASH, IWR6843ISK

Hi

I want to check the noise coming into the RX channel using mmwave studio.

So I connected IWR6843LEVB and DCA1000EVM and checked using mmWave Studio, and it came out as below.

Data sensing does not work in real time. And what data do you use to check the noise coming into the RX channel?

  • Hello,

DCA1000 and raw data is not supported in real time. The purpose of raw ADC data is to acquire the unfiltered, unprocessed IF signal and then create processing chains of your own. What is your application and what kind of data are you trying to get? If you want noise data then you can look into the noise profile which can be provided via out of box demo. If you are curious on what kind of data out of box demo provides, check here: https://dev.ti.com/tirex/explore/node?a=1AslXXD__1.00.00.26&node=A__ADnbI7zK9bSRgZqeAxprvQ__radar_toolbox__1AslXXD__1.00.00.26

  • Hello,

    I made a controller unsing AWR6843

The antenna was designed with reference to AWR6843ISK.

I want to check how much noise signal is coming into the RX antenna to see if the HW product is normal.

Because I think I can know whether the antenna is affected by other circuits by checking the noise signal coming into the RX channel.

Q1) Please tell me how to check the signal coming into RX channel using the UI provied by TI.

Q2) Please tell me what you need to use Q1.(ex : Which TI EVB to use, Interface between HW(I made) and TI EVB, Source code, etc)

    Best Regards.

  • Are you looking for the noise figure values? Noise profile? Signal-to-noise ratio? I am going to guess noise profile and you can use the Out of Box demo source code binary, flash it to the binary, and use the online mmWave Demo Visualizer to visualize the noise in real time. You can compare the 6843ISK vs your own module this way.

  • Hello

First of all, thank you for your reply.

I want to make the noise level coming into the antenna equal to the EVB.

That's why I asked you to compare the noise level of TI EVB with the product I designed.

The TI EVB I have is IWR6843LEVM.

Unable to find the *.bin file in Resource Explorer's Out of Box Demo.

How can I download *.bin and flash to Uniflash?

  • Hello,

First you will need to download the Radar Toolbox which will provide you with all source code and documentation.

    Second,

The IWR6843LEVM's antenna pattern matches IWR6843ISK, so going forward know that any lab that supports ISK will support your EVM as well. You can find the binary at:

    \radar_toolbox_version\source\ti\examples\Out_Of_Box_Demo\prebuilt_binaries

Flash the binary using Uniflash, then go to the online visualizer page:

    https://dev.ti.com/gallery/view/mmwave/mmWave_Demo_Visualizer/ver/3.6.0/

And you can turn on an option for noise profile.
