OPT3101: The current consumption after reset and during sleep mode

According to datasheet, the current consumption would be some uA in deep sleep mode.

But we can only enter to the sleep mode after triggering monoshot mode. So I always apply soft reset after finish measuring in continus mode.

I'm wondering how much current it will draw after soft reset in my case?

The soft reset I meant was writing 1 to SOFTWARE_RESET, lowest bit of address 00h.

I'm looking for the best way to reduce power consumption after finish measurement. Soft reset, pin reset, deep sleep, or any better way.

Hi Moses,

I believe the device will default to standby mode after issuing a software reset. I'm not clear on if the device is in a "deep sleep" state while in standby mode. Are you trying to capturing continuously and go to a deep sleep mode dynamically or would it make more sense to operate the device in monoshot mode? In monoshot mode you can specify the number of subframes you want to capture before going back to deep sleep.

We will apply some algorithm to the captured data, around 1000 samples are required. So continuous mode is the only chioce.

Of course I can try to give it a monoshot to let it enter to sleep mode. But it will be very helpful if there is a datasheet-level info about the current cunsumption in standby mode.

Hi Moses,

You can use register 76 to power down the device in order to get the device into the same low-power state as deep sleep after monoshot. When you want to take the device out of the power down state, you will not need to re-write the calibration or other register values.
