AWR1843BOOST: Why does it use the MCU(TM4C1294NCPDTT3) for XDS110?

Dear,

I design AWR1843 Radar board based on AWR1843BOOST schematic and layout.

As I know, AWR1843 chip has included MCU and MMIC together, so doesn't needs other MCU for Radar operation.

But, In the AWR1843BOOST kit has other MCU for XDS110.

Why does it use the MCU(TM4C1294NCPDTT3) for XDS110?

If I remove this block(XDS110), Can I debugging AWR1843 by other way such as XDS110 JTAG Debug Probe?

(I want to remove block that schematic page 12, 13.)

I think, TM4C1294NCPDTT3 doesn't need more in the AWR1843BOOST if it replace to FTDI(USB to uART) IC.

Please check this if you have any concern.

Hello,

Yes, you can use an external XDS110 probe instead of the MCU. The MCU is included on the board for simplicity so that customers do not need to buy a separate probe when evaluating our sensors.

The MCU is also used to bring out the RS232 pins for flashing. You would also need to use an external USB to serial converter to flash the device and access the RS232 port.
