IWRL6432: How to enable BOM-optimized mode of IWRL6432?

Hi TI expert,

As IWRL6432 datasheet says, it supports BOM-optimized mode to save one external 1.2V regulator. But how does the chip switch from external 1.2V to internal LDO instead? Will the chip automatically detecting the voltage to switch to internal 1.2V or need to do some config? Or just need to connect the supply circuit like datasheet mentions?

Hi,

The current IWR6432 operates according to 3.3V IO power optimized mode. To operate in 3.3V BOM optimised mode you need modify the schematic as mentioned in the datasheet. The LDO output generated by 1.2V input in power optimized mode would be generated by 1.8V instead.

Thank you. So there is no need to have any SW configuration nor burning the ROM code for IWR6432 to adopt such change, right? Just follow the HW schematic connection as datasheet saying.

Hi Jesse,

Device would automatically detect BOM optimized or Power optimized based on the voltage present on the 1.8V inputs. If there are no supplies present then device automatically enable internal LDOs. And becomes BOM optimized mode. There is no need of SW configuration
