AWR2243BOOST: Doppler Receiving Inverted Values

Part Number: AWR2243BOOST

When testing the radar with a R & S AREG8000 machine and real world trials, I am receiving velocity values of Doppler that do not match the inputs/trials. For instance, when moving toward the radar I am getting negative values as opposed to positive. Unless the velocity is very low, this inversion does not give reasonable values as well. By this, I mean that the doppler can be 5 mps toward the radar and it will measure -0.96 mps.

  • Hi Sarah,

I would require additional information here.

    • How are you collecting the data from the AWR2243BOOST? Could you explain your test setup briefly?
    • Which post processing script are you using? Is it something provided by TI or is it your custom script?
    • Is this observation exclusive to the echo generator or with real world testing as well?

    Regards,

    Kaushik

  • Hi Kaushik,

We are collecting data through R&S AREG800A by using it's GUI with various configurations and using an employee moving towards and away from the stationary device. Both types of testing achieve the same results. Therefore, this observation is relevant to both the echo generator and real world testing.

To collect the data, we are using the GUI of mmWave Studio by triggering the frame.

We are just using the post processing script provided by TI within the mmWave Studio GUI, post proc.

    Many thanks,

    Sarah

  • Hi Sarah,

Thank you for your inputs. I would like some additional info:

    • Is the range of the detections appropriate? Is it correlating to the movement of the object in both cases of simulator and real world?
    • Can you confirm if you are getting the correct doppler peaks (matching to estimated velocity)?
    • Are there any changes you have made in the post processing or the lua script? (Just to confirm)

    Regards,

    Kaushik
